Motion and attitude:
- Inclinometers — pitch, roll, and heave
- Gyrocompasses and electronic compasses
- Heave compensation sensors
Equipment encoders:
- Cable counters (boom wire, bucket cable)
- Rotary encoders (machine rotation, boom angle, stick angle, bucket angle, pump RPM)
- Cable arm wire-following systems
Depth and sonar:
- Single-beam echo sounders (any brand with serial NMEA output)
- Multibeam sonar systems (R2Sonic, Kongsberg, Teledyne Reson)
- Pressure-based depth sensors (Keller)
Environmental and process:
- Tide gauges (ETrac, Valeport, Hazen, NOAA)
- Flow meters
- Vacuum and pressure sensors
Industrial protocols:
- CAN bus (J1939 and proprietary)
- OPC UA (industrial automation standard)
- MQTT (IoT sensor networks)
- Serial RS-232/RS-422/RS-485
Adding a new sensor
The ClamVision driver architecture is designed for extensibility. Each sensor type is a self-contained driver module that handles communication, parsing, and data delivery to the rest of the application. New drivers for customer-specific hardware can be added without changes to the core application.
